Gospel Rap Evangelist DAY, brings Truth to today’s culture through the art of music. His powerful lyrics captivate both adolescents and adults. Born and raised on the east coast and having been heavily influenced by the culture of hip hop, DAY began writing music at a very young age. At age 21, he moved to Los Angeles, CA, where he later recorded a demo with his close friend and musical composer, Ruwanga “Ru” Samath (The Bird Call Productions). DAY’s demo eventually opened doors to opportunities with both Suge Knight and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, yet the divine call on his life had a stronger pull. But not without tribulation.
DAY was diagnosed with Stage II Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and endured the following months undergoing chemotherapy treatments to rid his body of golf ball-sized tumors throughout his neck and chest. What didn't kill him definitely made him stronger! DAY was declared, “medically cured” and began to capture the attention of secular media and has been featured in Birthplace Magazine, SoJones.com, and, most notably, graced the cover of HYPE Magazine!
As his music unequivocally bridges the gospel and secular music industries, DAY has performed at notable venues throughout the Los Angeles and Tri-state areas, including the Knitting Factory and Webster Hall in Manhattan. His performances in prominent events include McDonald’s Gospel Fest (Newark, NJ), Higher Calling (Brooklyn, NY), and Rap Fest (Bronx, NY). Additionally, DAY has shared the stage with not only Christian Hip Hop heavyweights Bizzle, Derek Minor, K-Drama, R-Swift, and Braille but also some of Gospel music’s most beloved artists such as Hezekiah Walker, Cissy Houston, Vickie Winans, and legendaries Roberta Flack and Dionne Warwick.
